Tama Horse Stables

Tama Hills Recreation Area comprises about one-half of the 500-acre Tama Services Division Annex, the other half being the very popular Tama Hills Golf Course. It’s an easy 60-minute drive time from Yokota AB. The quite atmosphere boasts a fine selection of lodges, cabins, and campsites nestled amidst serene mountains. Activities include hiking, horseback riding, paintball, bicycling, archery, and miniature golf through the Tama Outdoor Recreation Office. Softball fields, picnic shelters, and a children’s play park are also available. Special activities include a Friendship Festival, tournaments, outdoor concerts, block parties and the Tour de Tama mountain bike race. The Hillcrest Lounge offers a quiet atmosphere that turns into a disco celebration when called upon.
Sanrio Puroland (Hello Kitty) Park, Yomiuriland Amusement Park, Tama Zoological Park, Suntory Brewery Musashino Factory, Ajinomoto Soccer Stadium, shopping, shrines, and the Fuchu Horse Track are all conveniently located outside the gates of Tama. Some are within walking distance others are easily accessible by train.

Tama Recreation Area consists of a lodging facility with 15 private rooms in the main lodge and nine log cabins nestled amongst the hills. Tama also has a four-bedroom cabin, The Red HorseLodge, available for larger groups. Tama’s full-service Kiji Dining Room boasts a superb selection, from healthy-heart entrees to exquisitely prepared American and Japanese favorites.
Tama’s legendary bar/lounge, the Hillcrest Lounge, hosts holiday parties and offers a quiet atmosphere that turns into a disco celebration every Saturday night. Additionally, there is a game room, laundry room, conference room, catering service and mini-store with sundries and popular logo items. Tama Hills Recreation Area is maintained and operated by the 374th Mission Support Group’s Services Division at Yokota Air Base, Japan.
Tama is a popular gathering place for group parties, weddings, and reunions. Special events include a Japanese/American Friendship Festival, sporting tournaments, outdoor concerts, block parties and the challenging Tour de Tama Off-road Mountain Bike Races.

A “Rendezvous for Two” package is available Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. The package includes champagne and a seven-course gourmet meal per night for two. The cost of the package depends on the type of room or cabin rented. If you are interested in this program, please ask for details when making your reservation.
Usage and Reservation Policy:
All usage and reservations will be taken in accordance with the 374th Airlift wing Instruction 34-110, Tama Hills Recreation Area (THRA) Operations, dated 22 August 2007.
Main Lodge, Standard Cabins, Red Horse Lodge and Campsites:
SOFA Status at Yokota AB - 90 days
Other authorized category patrons - 60 days
1. DV Suite: Reservations are taken up to 90 days in advance for SOFA Status, O-6s, GS-15s and above stationed at Yokota AB. Other authorized patrons welcome if units are not reserved prior to 7 days.
2. Samurai Cabin: Reservations are taken up to 90 days in advance to active duty E-9s stationed at Yokota AB and 60-days in advance for other authorized patrons.
3. Shogun Cabin: Reservations are taken up to 90 days in advance for Group Commanders, Squadron Commanders/Directors,O-6’s, GS-15s and above stationed at Yokota AB. Other authorized patrons welcome if unit is not reserved prior to 7 days.
*Note: The DV suite, Shogun and samurai cabins may only be reserved for a maximum of three (3) consecutive nights per reservation and no more than one (1) weekend per month per sponsor.
Checking Out and Departure:
Normal check out is at 1100. If existing reservations permit, guests may request a late check out as follows:
By 1400 for an additional fee of 25% of the single night's rate.
By 1600 for an additional fee of 50% of the single night's rate.
After 1600, an additional full night's rate will be assessed.
Outdoor recreation facilities include three picnic areas, 22 campsites, hiking trails, an 18-hole miniature golf course, horseback riding stables, tennis court, softball field, archery range, basketball court, playgrounds, paintball field, outdoor equipment issue and the 18-hole Tama Hills Golf Course. Equipment rentals include sporting equipment, camping supplies, mountain bikes and more.
